Ya gotta love me. So today I decided to do a little website maintenance. Those of you who know me are going, “OMG does she even still have a website”?  I guess you remember the good old days when I would hit the wrong button and crash my entire site for days.  Well, I have definitely improved since those days.  The good news is I still have a website. The bad news is I unintentionally deleted a ton of photos.  I was trying to save time (the story of my life).  I thought rather than go through the over 40 pages of photos in the media section of my website, I would just take a shortcut!  I got, what I thought was a brilliant idea.  I decided to just filter all the “unattached” photos and then do a “bulk” delete.  What I didn’t know was that a lot of the photos that were listed as “unattached” were actually inserted into many of my blogs!  OOPS!  Bottom line…they were actually attached and now they are gone:( So why am I telling you all this?  Aren’t there bigger issues going on these days? Yes, there are but stick with me for a second.

After I realized what happened, I started to go back through the blogs to reinsert the pictures I had deleted.  In order to save time (notice a theme here), I decided to just use “free” images instead of trying to locate all my originals.  It is actually very easy to do! You just type in what you are looking for and all these images relating to what you typed just magically appear.  I was on a role just typing in the topic of my blog and picking a picture to match.  Then I got to my blog called “Empowerment”.  I typed in the word Empower and a message came up that said, “sorry no results found”. Huh? How about Empowering? Sorry, no results were found. How odd, I thought to myself.  Then I typed in anger, depression, sad, hurt, etc, and tons of pictures came up for each one of those words.  WOW!

I just found this so interesting!  It is funny because I was talking with a client about empowerment just the other day.  We started discussing all the craziness going on in the world.  I was sharing with her how disturbed I am by the fact that we are not teaching empowerment anywhere!  We were both sharing with each other what a different world we would be living in if we taught empowerment in schools from pre-school on.  Imagine if every time something bad happened to someone we immediately supported them in finding their power and helping them to overcome and move forward.  Imagine if we shared real-life stories of people who had overcome and went on to live wonderful lives (true heroes)?  WOW!  Can you even begin to imagine what a wonderful world it would be?  I can!

It is time to start focusing on EMPOWERING ourselves which will, in turn, allow us to empower each other.  We are in the middle of a mental health crisis like I have never seen in my lifetime.  While everyone is being distracted by all the craziness in the world there are people all around us who are truly suffering. You may even be one of them.  Here is what I want you to know:

  • You are stronger than you know.
  • You are more deserving than you know.
  • It’s time to expect more for yourself.
  • It’s time to surround yourself with people who are where you want to be in your life and let go of those who keep you stuck or drag you down.
  • Life can be brutally unfair and when bad things happen to you just remember that you do have the strength and courage to move forward and become even stronger and even more courageous.
  • People can be horrible to each other and when they do bad things you just remember that you do have the strength and courage to move beyond the hurt and find your happiness.
  • There is ALWAYS someone there for you!  It may not be who you expect it to be or who you want it to be but there is always someone to help you. Just ask to be guided to the right person!
  • It’s time to empower yourself!

Just a final thought or two.  If you are a therapist or coach who specializes in depression, anxiety, trauma, etc and you are taking new clients online or by phone, please contact me. I am very disturbed by the feedback I am getting from clients who are being told they have to wait months and months to get a counseling session.  I am trying to put together a network of people to who I can refer clients. Finally, I encourage all of you to check out my FREE Happy Hour!  It is a live event that I do every week.  As of this blog it is being done via zoom. However, there will be some exciting news regarding that so stay tuned.  In the meantime, you can join us from the comfort of your home by registering here.

Stay strong!  Stay positive!  Stay empowered!
