I have been sitting back watching for weeks as insanity continues to unfold, as fear takes hold and as more and more people lose hope for the future.  I feel like I am outside a snowglobe that has been shaken.  I am watching all the insanity from a safe distance and I just can’t understand why no one is seeing what I am seeing.  I am worried that we have crossed a line that we may never be able to return from.  Yet I am hopeful.  However, I not sure we are really focusing on the actual problem.

Those of you who know me have probably heard me say, “I am smart enough to NOT talk about politics and respectful enough to NOT talk about religion”.  No need to worry I am not going to talk about politics.  What I am going to talk about is something I think we have ALL forgotten!  Something that has seemed to escape ALL of us…democrat, republican, independent, young, old, black, white, purple, green…and on and on and on.  I am not sure I can truly find the right words to use in a simple blog so instead, I will just share this:

Today I saw today a protestor and thought that is someone’s son, husband, father, brother, friend.  Today I saw someone rioting in the street and I thought that is someone’s daughter,  wife, mother, sister, friend. Today I saw a police officer and I thought he is someone’s son, husband, father, brother, friend.  Today I saw someone wearing a mask because they are terrified of getting sick and I thought that is someone’s daughter, wife, mother, sister friend.  Today I saw someone in a bar, listening to music and laughing with friends and I thought that is someone’s sons, husband, father, brother, friend.  Today I saw an act of hate and I thought we all have the ability to find something in each other to love. Today I saw an act of love and thought why can’t we spread love as fast as we spread fear.  Today I saw a crowd of people and I thought how they all have someone that loves them waiting at home.  Today I saw someone sitting alone and I thought somewhere there is someone who loves them worrying about them.  Today I saw a baby being born and I thought what a beautiful gift to the world you are.  Today I watched as someone took their last breath and I thought what a beautiful gift to the world you were. Today I see a world where EVERYONE has lost their way.  I see a world where everyone has forgotten that we are PEOPLE, not just beliefs and opinions.  We are someones’ daughter, son, mother, father, wife, husband, sister, brother, and friend.

The solutions we seek can not be found on one side or another, in one belief or another.  The solution we seek can only be found when we close our eyes to everything going on around so we get still enough to listen to our souls that are desperately trying to remind us that we are all someone’s daughter, son, mother, father, wife, husband, sister, brother, and friend.  We need to look at each and every person and think …what if that was someone in MY family?  What if that was someone I love?  We need to listen.  We need to find common ground.  We need to respect one another. We need to BE the change we wish to see.
